Re: Ian Croucher - ianaudia4
Sad news:( I'm not on here much and heard this through Face Book. I met Ian when he was up at Volksfling at Biggar. On meeting him once he was always straight talking, knowledgeable and so considerate to everyone. Within meeting him for about 30 mins he was helping me try to figure out my electric w...

EX engine oil leak at timing belt end
It's an 8V carbed EX engine. I am aware that the cam cover can leak and the sump gasket but don't think its either. Could I have a leak at either of the oil seal rings at the cam or bottom end? I'll also mention a ticking noise from the timing belt that I get when the car is warmed up. I never figur...

Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
Hello(: Forgot Rocco was due MOT last week and kind garage (Steven @ George Browns Stewarton) did a late Friday test. No preparation, haven't looked at anything for months!, a bulb, fuse and passed with advisories on rear brake pipes. I hadn't even checked the windscreen wash. Steven even did a bit ...

Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
Hello Mark yes it is a light metallic- Jade Green. I would be interested but it is unlikely I would be leaving Scotland this year just Scottish shows. PM me a picture and I'll give you a straight answer as it would just be a spare tbh.

Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
Hello Ian mate, Pictures seem fine from my end? I spaced the text apart from pictures if that helps? Yes it's a GTI an 89 8v. I think it is one of the last small bumpers and has a Digifant engine. As you say the bumpers look like the metal trimmed GL ones which I think someone has fitted. Will be go...

Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
Not been on here for months but Scirocco has been plodding through this wet/mild winter and after a serious clean of the carb/jets is running better. It has mysterious Oil leak which could be cam oil seal or even the lower seal? but tbh I haven't wanted to go near the car with all these storms! Anyw...

Re: Mk2 Buying Advice wanted
Nice one mate, looks like it has been given some TLC, part of a batch of white ones I see.
Would be worth making sure the tank and filler neck have some protection some sort of under-seal stuff like dinitrol, Dynax UB or whatever.
Loads of info on here if you search in relevant section.

Re: Mk2 Buying Advice wanted
Welcome mate, Start with this guide (in two parts).. http://sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/faq/2009/03/29/mk2-scirocco-buying-guide-pt1/ Try and have a good feel/check round the wheel arches under the body kit for integrity. Very hard to determine actual condition so take your time going round the inne...

Re: Door membrane?
I found that clear polythene used for protecting the likes of Art materials, even builders type materials wasn't too thick to work with and good quality double sided worked fine.A bit of heat from a heat gun (very carefully) can help make it a nice fit.. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee319/macc...

Re: Wax oiling
Having read Practical Classics Magazine for a while they now recommend these suppliers of cavity wax's and underseals... http://www.bilthamber.com/cavity-waxes http://rust.co.uk/ I have Bilt Hamber UB and S-50 products. The S-50 has a very handy probe that simply fixes to the aerosol for box section...
