Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
I quickly edited that measurement to 150 x 50 mm just there, maybe you didn't see just double checked the car again, but yes I actually felt that the overall spread of load and slightly thicker metal made for very good strength anyway so bolting should be fine. Cheers :good: If I can remember I'll m...

Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
Hello Sandy mate, glad you got your car sorted for MOT, yes the Scottish VAG event was wet but gradually improved, got chatting to loads of folk. The Golf just wasn't going anywhere and I needed to make some money back to fund the tank etc. for the Rocco. Will get another car when funds allow. The t...

Re: Mk2 GT2, 2nd attempt at Scirocco ownership
I attended the Scottish VAG meet, I was the only early Rocco there. Great friendly show, I'm sure we could get some more Rocco's along next year. New tank due from VW Heritage who actually seemed the cheapest but had to wait for stock. So a spare beam will be prepared to go on with the new tank. To ...

Re: pre natioal meet brake problem HELP
Sorry maybe already mentioned but I'd advise getting fresh bolts for the cylinders (two per side) as you'll likely chew them getting them out
Me and Bengould ended up being forced to use a dremel to cut a slot to get better purchase removing the old ones.

Re: weber 32/34 fitting help
It should be jetted right but importantly sounds like it is missing the adaptor plate. Here is the carb I think you will have with all that is needed (obviously at full retail price) http://www.fastroadcars.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=11 Here is plate you might well need but it w...

Re: stripping paint from alloys
I bought paint stripper to do some old snow flakes and the stuff I bought from the motor factors barely did anything. I had an old can of Automotive Nitromors which was working fine but it ran out. Further research indicated that due to new laws these products don't have methylene chloride in them a...

Re: Knocking sounds O/S Front
Check the clips that that kind of wedge the brake pads onto the calipers(there are two types) . They can rot out and cause this kind of intermittent noise.
Easily bought from a motor factors etc.

Re: Fuel starvation weber carb
Green arrow points towards Y connector replacing swirl pot/fuel vapour separator which can be bought at Halfords (two in a pack). Red arrow is where the brass/copper welding tip is hidden. These tend to be 0.6 or 0.8mm holed for welding wire that have a thread to attach to the end of mig welder. The...

Thought I found the leak here on the fuel tank but was actually worse on the other side of the flange once I attacked the area with a dremel (this was blocked up to prevent any flammable fumes).. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee319/maccoll_photos/DSC_0461_zps173e8492.jpg http://i228.photobucket...

Re: Paint for brake drums
The originals I believe were not painted. If they are too smooth they might need keying with say 600 grit or a scotch pad. Importantly if they are bare metal you should etch primer them and then use something like a satin black. They get scratched up anyway but it is good to paint them so you don't ...

Re: The dreaded repair
My bulkhead hasn't gone yet but with rear arch welding required for a new filler neck I decided to go for preventative approach whilst i was at it. I paid £15 for a bulkhead repair and after hours of drilling grinding and hammering I decided it was scrap, it basically doesn't fit the Scirocco in any...
