Re: MK1 Storm Passes MOT.. but....
The black rubber is from the inside of the tank itself. For the injected cars there is a plastic box sitting at the bottom of the tank that acts as a surge tank for the fuel pump suction pipe, its so the pump has a head of fuel when your hard cornering , braking or ahem, accelerating. This plastic b...

Re: The Rocco Grotto
WOW Ant, Nice to see a Silvergreen Storm getting the treatment altho the car you have there certainly appears further advanced with ferritic carcinoma than what I have here. The last project was a 76 Golf in for a shell rebuild.. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/floorout1_zps84a82365...

Re: MKI raintray intrest ?
Joost,
Raintrays arrived magnificently packaged, very impressed with the quality of your reproduction parts. I will likely get 3 more sometime around Christmas.
I dont think mario will be able to bring them out for me as we discussed, more likely mail them as per the first lot.

Re: converting RHD to LHD
Ed I have a LHD car here which is almost a bare shell, LMK if your needing the bulkhead holes location and sizes.
I do know the steering column, pedals and how they hang is different from the RHD version.

Re: MKI raintray intrest ?
Looks good Joost, Is this version the "short" non aircon car item as the Airconditioned cars come with a longer moulding. D-bot on VW Vortex has produced the aircon version several years back, not sure if there has been any more produced tho. I would be keen to buy at least 2 of the "...

Re: Restoring mk1 storm after 27 years owned
After having you take me to see this car a few years back I am really glad that you have decided to restore it to its former glory, Next time I am in Blighty i will get in contact and head over for a viewing if thats ok... ;-) Only advice I can offer for the minute is take way to many pictures of ho...

Re: '77 Mk1 Scirocco GLS: Project patina time!
Check the fitment of the caliper adaptors carefully, the identical ones i have the hole centres are slightly different than the wheel hub bolt holes. Makes the countersunk screws not fully engage the seat on tensioning, other prob was you may have to grind the ears on the bearing housing to fit in t...

Re: MK 1 Storm - The Money Pit
Yesterday the weather was gorgeous round here, I drove for miles and miles, put it back in the garage then realised I was missing my 'Fix' - took it out again and drove it for some more miles. The smile on my face was the reward for all the time, money, worry spent. Says it all Jim, its what owning...
