Re: Flooded engine - issues ever since
yes defo check your air leaks you may find the inlet manifold gasket has failed too its easy enough to change just fiddly with the bolts (don't forget there's a water seal in there too that will need changing!) get a can of lynx or wd40 and spray the areas you think may be leaking and if the revs r...

Re: Flooded engine - issues ever since
double check all your basics especially vaccum leaks check the vacuum pipe to servo as its a favorite to split and cause bad idle etc after that i would be pulling jets one at a time and cleaning incase of any debris [/quote] Thanks! I'll give that a go assuming a basic strip down is fairly straight...

Re: Flooded engine - issues ever since
Thanks for all the feedback! I replaced the original flange and it certainly runs a lot better when warm! No more stalling when I open the choke! It still seems pretty hard to start however?! And when it does start the revs are pretty low. What bugs me is it was running totally spot on up until rece...

Re: Flooded engine - issues ever since
Cheers! Just had it off there is indeed a split which runs around the edge. I'll replace and see how I get on. Just out of curiosity how did you know it would be the source of the issue? Is it allowing too much air into the engine? Thanks Simon

Flooded engine - issues ever since
So I may of pressed a few too many times on the gas pedal the other day when starting up my rocco. I'd been having issues with the Carb which I've just replaced with a Weber 32/34. This solved all my issues and the cars been running a dream. However since accidentally flooding the engine (assuming t...

Getting through tyres once a month
So the tracking on my Rocco is stupidly far out borderline dangerous to drive and its destroying my tyres. I don't think the camber is too good either. I've had a few garages try to improve it but not much luck. The coilovers are totally seized and I've been advised to replace them with a decent Low...

Help!! Mk2 scirocco cutting out/struggling after heavy rain
Drove through heavy rain and some quiet deep puddles last night now my car is really struggling to tick over and cuts out quiet often when at a set of lights for example. Ive checked the air filter and it looks pretty wet... Is there anything else I can do to sort it without taking to a garage I dri...

Re: Stalling when low revs/neutral
Two possible causes: 1. A fault with the idle cut-off valve. This is an electric valve that when energised opens the throttle a bit via the throttle plate actuator (3-point unit). It's function is to stop the engine stalling when the engine speed drops below 1200 rpm. It shuts off at higher engine ...

Stalling when low revs/neutral
So as title sudgests... When the car is idling or has low revs it cuts out and stalls. This happened for about 10 minutes then was okay? Only happened really when I was in neutral or at low speeds. Also since the oil light comes on at low revs but I think this is just a dodgy sender. It's fine now b...

Re: Oil Temp, Voltage etc cluster
Electrics are not my strong point. Anybody got an idiots guide how to wire these up. I have dials and an oil pressure sender. The senders are not an issue nor connecting each VDO gauge together, to make a loop. Which coloured wires do the lights circuit go to, that links them to the light switch, s...

Help!!! clutch cable for 89. 1.8 mk2 scirocco
Help!! So my clutch cable is starting to fail I'd say half the strands have snapped at the pedal end. (this cable was fitted by a local garage only a month ago). So I'm assuming poor routing and poor quality cable has lead to this happening. Anyway... Does anyone know where I can find a replacement ...
