Re: DSG and 1.4 TSI in Mk 2 ????

Yeh that’s sound advice Tom - I only want a bit more poke than the c.90 I have currently with a more modern auto but it’s not a deal breaker - 150 would be more than enough

Re: Possible fuel starvation issues with the GTS

As above - I had exactly the same 3 or 4 years ago - went down all the usual rabbit holes to find that only a new tank and filler neck fixed it......just crud getting sucked up at random intervals - scary! Has run like a dream ever since........coincidently it passed its MOT today actually at the fi...

Re: DSG and 1.4 TSI in Mk 2 ????

Thanks - yeh, that would be a very nice option indeed - see what I can find

I'm feeling the urge for something a bit more hairy - even looking at R32s now!

Re: To be or not to be, rear spoiler

It's a striking look showing off the attractive / unusual curve of the glass however I think I'd stick with a stock spoiler unless you're looking for something more radical all round perhaps

Vauxhall brake upgrade - how old?

Read all the threads re using Vauxhall Tigra/ Corsa / Astra VX calipers and 256mm sonversion but not clear how far back you need to go - seems plenty 2006 on but none much older AFAIK - are they still compatible in this date range - VXR Corsa D calipers seem plentiful but are they still good for the...

Re: MK2 Scala restoration what to do next...?

I think it looks great as it is (same year and colour as my auto Scala) & Saphire is one of the better colours IMHO - I'm going for standard with subtle / sensible improvements to running gear and brakes etc.

Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole - VDO all the way, on-shore source and good feedback - unlike this vendor.

Re: Flywheel / Flexplate (AUTO) balance........how important?

Many thanks for the tips - I will check accordingly and report back - and a good logical point re the balancing of the flexplate.

ATF is pretty fresh and still a nice shade of uncontaminated pink - could be a tad overfilled - again I’ll do the check whilst running and see.

Re: Rough start up and light flicker of ignition light on dash

Yeh good call - I’ve had such a fuelling issue which I put down to vapour lock - I removed the restriction I’d put in the return side of the swirl pot and all seems ok ..........for now!
