Re: Scirocco Mk1 Storm sold for £33,000
The description states there was only one owner, who parted with it in 1990. However, according to the Gov website, a V5C was issued in 2015, which suggests at least one additional registered keeper. There has been no update to the V5C since the auction last year, which either means the transfer has...

Re: Scirocco Mk1 Storm sold for £33,000
The tailgate window trim also appears missing
I've not done a detailed comparison, but my feeling is that with a marked uptick in Scirocco values over the last few years, auction values seem now pretty much in line with Golfs of equivalent spec and condition.

Scirocco Mk1 Storm sold for £33,000
I've just seen this "fully restored" Mk1 Scirocco Storm that sold at online auction for £33k last year:
https://www.evoke-classics.com/auction/ ... storm-mk1/
I'm guessing this was a new record for the Scirocco Mk1 in the UK.

Re: 1980 Scirocco Storm over heating
If the water pump has failed or I have a pressure issue would this not still cause over heating with the thermostat removed? Thanks Ultimately yes, but perhaps only under load and in hot weather, as there will hopefully be some circulation through the radiator through convection with the thermostat...

Re: 1980 Scirocco Storm over heating
A couple of things worth checking. Is the radiator cap or expansion cap allowing the system to pressurise? The hoses should become very firm as the engine warms up. Lack of pressure would reduce the boiling point. Secondly, the water pump. Is the auxiliary drive belt turning the pump as it should (l...

Re: Stanford Hall 2024 - club stand?
Yeah, I spotted the tickets were all gone on the site. It's great there is a good turn out - I look forward to calling by. I've booked a spot on the Concours. Not in it for the competition, mind - just a quick wipe down to make it presentable.

Stanford Hall 2024 - club stand?
Has the Register booked a club stand for Stanford Hall for this year's show on Sunday 5 May? If so and there is still space, can I please book a spot?

Re: mk1 scirocco
Welcome back tobyio, and good luck with your search. Looking at Scirocco GLS manual for example on howmanyleft, amazingly there are more known to DVLA now than there were in 2012, so they don't seem to be getting any rarer: https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/volkswagen_scirocco_gls I am sure pric...

Re: MK2 - Fuel Tank Heat Shield
I don't find 7zap as user friendly or useful as it used to be. There isn't really a single (free) source that covers everything, so I tend to switch around. I got your part number from here: https://www.catcar.info/audivw/?lang=en I find these two useful as well: https://www.ilcats.ru/vw/?function=g...

Re: MK2 - Fuel Tank Heat Shield
I think the part number is 155201281
It looks like it was only fitted on injection models.
Availability from VW in Europe looks uncertain but it's apparently still available new from VW in USA.

The image appears blocked, Dave. Presumably it is not a standard fitment?

Re: Engine identification
As far as I can see all the 1.6 and 1.8 8V engines on the Mk2 including DX use the same belt and tensioner, so unless a completely different engine has been fitted, the standard Mk2 1.8 8V belt and tensioner should fit.

Re: Drivers electric window motor
The electric window mechanism is unique to the Scirocco Mk2. Volkswagen Classic Parts in Germany have 47 of the passenger electric window lifters in stock (at 450 Euros each), part number 533837401D, but unfortunately none of the driver's side, part number 533837402D. I'm guessing you might have to ...

Re: Scirroco light issues
The indicator relay flashes twice as fast when a bulb is out - it was always that way with VW indicator relays. In your case, as you've checked the bulbs, there must be issues with the wiring. Do you have a Haynes manual with wiring diagrams? Probably check the earth wiring and earthing points first...
