Please say you've already done a compression test on the engine! Did your specialist do the ignition check under load? As that's where your problem seems to be occurring. If not, and your spark timing is definitely correct I would then be looking for faulty ignition components, like centrifugal adva...

There is no magic to the stuff VW used or would sell you, any decent quality self-adhesive closed-cell foam tape of the right width and thickness will be ideal. Mk2 Sciroccos only ever came with single gauge next to the ashtray - and even then that was limited to the GTX - which had a VDO Voltmeter. There were also Mk2 GTI's which had a single vdo oil temperature gauge (150°c) I always think voltmeter: just confirms what you already knew- flat battery oil ...

On some models there is a small bracket which connects the 2 manifolds together behind there too

Some people do it, although some reds aren't compatible.

I use Comma XStream G48 green, tried & tested favorite, zero risk

I recommend searching the forum as it's a common thing. There is a known weakness at the bulkhead where the outer cable mounts to, at the pedal end.

Agreed, I had that exact problem and was able to recreate the original gaskets from a sheet of closed cell foam, 2mm I think it was
