Re: Steering issues!
I had a similar issue, very stiff turning left, fine turning right, turned out to be water in the steering rack.
I wouldn't take the chance with a repair or trying to grease, just replace. It's your steering after all.

Actually they don't mind what you bring, I took my Volvo C90 last year. Unfortunately, they send out one pass per vehicle and the applications are closed, so we are only getting 2 passes for our stand.
Still hope to see you though. :)

It'll be good to see you both, but as it stands there might only be me and Tony.

Re: MOT - New Requirements
What... I think you may notice when driving your car if a brake pad or brake disc is missing!! Brake discs I'll give you but as for pads you'd be surprised how many people wouldn't notice. I knew someone who had the pads fitted the wrong way round (i.e., friction material up against the piston inst...

Car Show at Thirlestane Castle, Lauder, Sunday 3rd June
I've been sent an e-mail asking if we want to have a club stand again at the Lauder show on Sunday, June 3rd. It's a mixed show, not just VAG vehicles so plenty to see and anyone on the club stand gets in for free, so if you would like to come along please let me know by Friday 30th March so that I ...

Re: Black rear Mk2 lights
I have a set of white striped lights that I did that on, give the lights a coat or 2 of lacquer to protect the stripes and stop them lifting when you are cleaning them.

Re: Sunroof drain problem; how to fit new pipe?
Check that you don't have any holes around the edge of the sunroof. I had a leak like yours and it turned out that a couple of paint bubbles on the lip where the seal sat were actually rusted all the way through and that's where the leak was.

Re: SA clutch kit- actual pictures and fitting info
The pictures in this thread have disappeared thanks to photobucket, but if you google Scirocco South Africa Clutch Kit Bulkhead and look at the images, the pictures of the gold engine bay are the ones you need.

I've got the new cap and arm on, but no joy. Struggling with how to get the upper cam belt cover off at the moment. I've got both top nuts off but it's still held by something i can't find. I've got the metal version. The three holes at the bottom...there is a bolt in the far left hole http://www.c...

Re: Sweet as a nut MK2 - sudden loss of power on steep hill
It's not the filler pipe it's the bracket at the top of the wheel arch that the filler pipe is bolted onto, it acts as a collector of crud.
If there is any failure of the weatherproofing around the bracket you will end up with a rusty hole.

My car has been away since February, I'm hoping to get it back soon...ish. Might be in a position to organise something then.

Re: Alternator identification
From a practical point of view I would always choose the 90A.
Driving as a daily in Scottish winters I can say from experience that the lower amp version can't always charge the battery fully.
