One of the most notorious places for letting water in. When you replace the seal, take a note of which way round the hook on the back of the lock goes!

Re: 86 GTX Misfire Problem

There's is one between the fuel tank and fuel pump and sits just above the rear axle, sometimes called an expansion tank, but it also contains a filter. It's also part of the return system and prevents fuel starvation at the pump under certain conditions.

Re: Horn continually sounding

Check the foam padding on the back of the horn push, it keeps the contacts apart. If the foam has broken down it lets the contacts meet all the time.

A metal coat-hanger. Snip a straight bit off and then bend the end over 1 or 2mm to form a small lip. Using 2 at once will probably be best.

Re: Aubrey - Mk2 1990 Scirocco

Tried to pull the fuel pump out of the tank but it was quite stiff and I didn't want to break something that wasn't broken! Unless things have changed since I had a carb car, there is no pump in a GT2 fuel tank, it's just a sender unit. If it hasn't been removed before a sharp tap to get it started...

Also, the bulbs on the front indicators are painted, yes painted, red because my dad refused to buy new ones when they failed the MOT. Apparently they're not the normal halfrauds variety as they have two connections? The ones with 2 connections have 2 filaments and are type 381 bulbs, you want type...

If you mean the bit that covers the bottom of the gear stick in the exhaust tunnel, should be 171711195C.

Re: My 88 Scala, summer project *3 years later*

It's to cover the MOT tester, it's like 'sills covered by bodykit', it means they can't check properly.

BTW, did you keep the front strut assemblies? In the pics it just looks like surface rust on the struts. There is always a market for them if you don't want to refurbish them.

027115611B was superseded by 027115611C (which is the one Topran references), probably explains the difference in colour.

That lug you have fitted the green wire to is the earth connection for the radio suppression shield fitted to the distributor of older models I believe.
