Re: Engine conversion. Any people who can do it? TDI

Thanks for the link Ryan, but I think I'd be better off with a complete car so I get the loom and other ancillaries.

Re: Engine conversion. Any people who can do it? TDI

Doh! - cheers ben, I'd completely forgotten about the turbo sitting there, so I also think that the downpipe may be required as well.
I do have experience of arsing around with turbo's, so can't believe I didn't think of that earlier.

Re: Engine conversion. Any people who can do it? TDI

Quick bump for this, as I am considering this myself. I'd love a mk4 110 (non-pd) tdi conversion but due to lack of skills the 1.6TD sounds more likely. I've got a couple of questions about this conversion, which are probably aimed at MJK 24, unless someone else has info on this. Loom - can the loom...

Cheers OMR.
I think I'll order one of those universal 190mm x 60mm mirrors off ebay. Which should mean its 2cm shorter at each end ;)

Rear view mirror - size

Hi, I've actually been doing some work on my Scirocco recently (it is now MOT'd - yay!) and I am looking to replace the damaged rear view mirror, possibly with one slightly smaller that I won't hit my head on. However my car is 15 miles away, so could someone do me a favour and tell me the size of a...

Re: Deleting rear speaker/parcel shelf supports.Best way ?

This is on my list of things to do on white, personally I was planning on just grinding them off.
The back of mine is going to be carpeted though, so I wasn't too bothered if it was a bit untidy.

Re: Possible Carbon/GRP Bonnet Group Buy

I'd prob be interested in a GRP 'race' one .... really can't justify a carbon one, but if/when the order is placed I might be able to stretch that far.

I know you say you don't really know about weights, but it'd be nice to have a rough idea of differences between them.

Re: Fit braided hoses, not better brakes!

My experience was that bigger front brakes were a large improvement, braided hoses were a large improvement, bigger servo and MC helped my brake feel a lot and pedal travel a little and rear discs are an utter pain to balance and they make no real difference. My mods were in that order. Good tyres ...

Re: Difficulty starting and dodgy idle

No help here I'm afraid, but I have the same problem as well ... it must be contagious.

I've not tried to sort it on mine yet, but was going to check the things you guys all ready seem to have done, so don't know where to start now :dunno:

Electric window switches

All of my electric window switches are now broken so does anyone know if there is a replacement that fits neatly in the shroud.

Thx
Chris

Re: Cylinder head spec ?

I am still trying to convince him to put a 4+e 'box in for the ultimate cruiser, plus the torque of the 2.0l should fill some of the big gaps between ratios. Sorry to go a bit OT, but I'm slowly getting used to the 4+e in mine with the 1.9. I hated it at first, but its growing on me, 30 in 1st, 50+...

Re: Brake Dust

I'd try different pads.
I'm currently using Pagid std and they create loads of dust. Previously I've had Pagid FR, Greenstuff and Mintex and none of them created much dust, so not alot to clean off ;)
